Why should one donate blood and what are its benefits?
~ According to statistics, about 12,000 people die every day in our country due to not getting blood on time. According to the Government of India, about 15 lakh units of blood are required every year, whereas due to misconceptions and lack of awareness about blood donation in the society, only 11 lakh units of blood are available. That is, there is a shortage of about 4 lakh units of blood every year.
~ If someone donates blood, first of all, instead of looking for personal selfishness, one should look for the feeling of service. It has also been said in the scriptures that service is the supreme religion, that is, service is the biggest religion. Rising above personal selfishness, we should donate blood with the feeling of helping another human being because one unit of your blood can save the lives of not just one but three people.
~ Looking at personal interests regarding blood donation, there are many benefits of donating blood. Speaking in detail, various researches show that donating blood not only saves the life of the recipient but also has many benefits for the donor. According to research, the risk of heart attack is reduced by up to 88 percent in people who donate blood regularly. Apart from this, the risk of other heart-related diseases is also reduced by up to 33 percent. According to Columbia University Medical Center, if your hemoglobin is high, blood donation reduces the thickness of the blood, whereas excessive thickness of the blood increases the risk of clotting, which increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. Regular blood donation reduces blood thickness, which lowers blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of a heart attack. Apart from these, regular blood donation also reduces the risk of stomach, throat, lung, and intestinal cancer. Donating blood keeps the liver healthy. It increases immunity, which increases the energy and strength of the body.
~ If someone thinks that donating blood will cause a shortage of blood in our body, then it is not true at all because 24 hours after donating blood, the body automatically replenishes the plasma (blood). Blood has two types of components: first plasma and second cellular components. Blood cells come under cellular components. Plasma is replenished in about 24 hours. At the same time, it takes 4 to 8 weeks for cellular components like red blood cells, white blood cells, etc., to be fully replenished. That is why blood donors should keep a gap of at least three months.
Who can donate blood?
~ You can donate blood even if you have diabetes and thyroid. Many times we shy away from donating blood when we are suffering from a disease, but according to government guidelines, people suffering from lifestyle diseases like diabetes, thyroid, and uric acid can also donate blood. Provided the diabetic is not taking insulin. Only taking pills. Has not changed medications for the last four months. And sugar is controlled. Similarly, if you are a thyroid sufferer, but it is fully controlled, then you can donate blood. Similarly, a person suffering from uric acid problems can also donate blood. Every human being above 18 years of age, both male and female, whose weight is more than 50 kg and is healthy, must donate blood 2-3 times a year. Bhanu Seva Sansthan urges all aware persons to fulfill their duty of being a human by saving the lives of hundreds of people by donating as much blood as possible and joining women along with men in large numbers in the blood donation campaign.

Inspiration for blood donation
From his father, teacher Damaram. Along with being a teacher, Damaram has always been associated with social work. Teacher Damaram ji himself has donated blood 23 times so far. In 2012, when his father Damaram ji had an accident, Bhanu stayed with him in the hospital for some time. Seeing people struggling with blood shortage in the hospital at that time, inspired by human feelings, Bhanu decided to donate blood after turning 18.
